Arid

September 09, 2016 by Lucy Robinson in Poetry

There’s an arid patch

where I disappear

Should I forget

To cultivate

Growth,

The green kind

That ruptures.

Life seeks itself

Better

In loose spaces

Airy with love.

As a spiral

Tightly wound

Seeks to unwind

And expand.

In tightness

We keep things in

Other things out.

It’s not safer,

Only smaller

Nothing is safe

Everything is safe.

One Life, Three Perspectives

September 23, 2015 by Lucy Robinson in Poetry

Someone explain to me

Why my purse is a hot mess

And what it is that scares

Me about myself

Someone help me reconcile

The life I predicted

With the life I want

With the life I love

It's one life, three perspectives--

Past

Future

Present

I get lost between the lines

But not tonight because

God is here

Explaining.
